Bacterial Vaginosis and Pregnancy
Bacterial Vaginosis and Pregnancy
Many women do not realize they have Bacterial Vaginosis until they are pregnant. If they are symptom free, they may not find out until after the baby is born. While the fact that you have got Bacteria Vaginosis will not affect your baby or you, it may be the reason why you develop other problems that are facilitated by the effect the condition has on your vaginal immune defenses. It may sound complicated but it is not.
A normal healthy vagina is home to good and bad bacteria. The good out number the bad and act as a defense against harmful infections traveling on to the uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries where they could do serious permanent damage. These good bacteria act like bodyguards for the reproductive organs and genitalia.
Natural Cures for Bacterial Vaginosis…
Bacterial Vaginosis occurs when an unknown trigger causes the harmful bacteria to unite and then rapidly multiply until they outnumber the beneficial bacteria that they then begin to destroy. Even at this advanced stage, no permanent or irreversible damage has been done and there would be no reason why you could not have a normal pregnancy and a healthy full term baby. You may never have any symptoms to indicate you have Bacterial Vaginosis while pregnant.
The problem is that if all your beneficial bacteria have been destroyed you have no defense against serious infection. This is why the pregnancy may result in premature labor or entopic pregnancy if the uterus and fallopian tubes have already been damaged by infection before conception, and even miscarriage.
Another problem that may be caused by an infection is permanent damage to the reproductive organs resulting in infertility.
If you need to have a cesarean delivery, you may be at risk of developing pelvic inflammatory disease.
If you are not yet pregnant and plan to have a baby, it is worth checking to see if you are in the high-risk bracket. No one knows exactly what triggers Bacterial Vaginosis and the subliminal affects on your pregnancy, but some people have been identified as being more likely to develop the condition and if you think that includes you, have a test done before you conceive.
If the test is positive you should get treatment immediately and make sure you are completely cured before getting pregnant.
It is vital to make sure you are in perfect health. Make sure you do not have Bacterial Vaginosis during the planning stage of your pregnancy or at least you’re not at high risk of it before you become pregnant.
